Utah Pride 2011 Grand Marshal and comedian Roseanne Barr, who was born and raised in Salt Lake City, said her gay brother and sister have done better at maintaining relationships than she has.
Barr, who is running for president as the nominee for the Peace and Freedom Party, appeared on CNN?s Piers Morgan Tonight.
?There were many times in my life where I was in love,? Barr said. ?And I happen to be in love right now,? referring to boyfriend Johnny Argent.
?I?m not like my gay sister and my gay brother that have both been with the same partner for 25 and 26 years respectively,? she said. ?I, as a straight person, have not been able to hold any relationship together as well as they.?
Her brother, Ben, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2011 Utah Pride Festival for his work in starting HIV/AIDS organizations in the early 80s in Salt Lake. He and his partner, John, lived in the Salt Lake city row-house in which he and his siblings were raised until they moved to Berkeley, Calif. where Ben went to school. They list their anniversary as September 30, 1982, meaning their relationship will actually turn 30 next month.
Roseanne was roasted last week for a Comedy Central special, which will air this Sunday at 9pm. The roastmaster is Jane Lynch.
At the roast, shock comedian Jeff Ross sparked outrage when he walked the red carpet dressed as up as former Penn State football coach Joe Paterno, whose statue of at the university was torn down after his role in a cover-up of former coach Jerry Sandusky?s child sex scandal, with very young looking shirtless men wearing football helmets with towels wrapped around their waists.
