As May comes to a close and we pull out the summer clothes, plant new gardens, and start prepping for trips to the beach, weekend getaways, and get the kids ready for whatever adventures they will have, don?t forget to include your best canine buddies in your plans. There are some great pet events in June that you and the whole family will enjoy. You?ll meet other pet owners, organizations, and have a tired but happy pup at the end of the day.

Check out some of the events listed below and if you?re not near these, check with your local humane society and newspaper for local pet events.

Dog-A-Thon Festival & Walk for the Animals!

Haven Humane Society?s 4th Annual Dog-A-Thon Festival and Arts and Craft and Faire Walk for the Animals is set for June 2nd , 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. at Haven?s pet walking trail. It will be an exciting and action packed day with demonstrations by Hennigan?s Spinning Frisbee K9s, sheep herding dogs, contests, and doggie participating events.

Bark Before Dark

Meet the other dog lovers in your community and enjoy some light snacks and refreshments all courtesy of Central Park Conservancy?s Central Park Paws.There will be some experts on hand to offer tips and training methods if you have questions on how to help your dog become the best dog she can be. Learn how you and your dog can play a vital role in maintaining the Park as a dog friendly environment while enjoying the Park, your neighbors and of course, your best friend.

Fresno Bully Rescue, a local non-profit, NO-KILL dog shelter specializing in bully breeds will be holding its BULLY WALK 2012 at the Mountain View Picnic Shelter at Woodward Park. This is a fundraising event and all breeds are welcome!

Dallas Pet Expo

Bring your pet to the expo! You can meet Shorty Rossi, the star of ?Pit Boss? on Animal Planet. The expo is inside at the Tower Building in Fair Park. Admission is free and all animals are welcome as long as they are ok with crowds and other animals. Bring proof of vaccines and use a non-retractable leash for your dog. If you bring your cat or lizard, use a pet harness so they don?t get lost or run away.

There will be over 100+ pet friendly booths for you to check out and live demonstrations of agility, obedience training, pet care, and activism. There will also be an adoption booth if you are considering adding another buddy to your family.

Georgia Dachshund Races

The event benefits DREAM Dachshund Rescue, a non-profit rescue in Atlanta. The weekend event will have races, costume contests, nose contests, and an obstacle course. You can register your own little dachshund to run a course. All races are ruled and sanctioned by the National Dachshund Circuit Races.

Pet Adoption Day and Picnic

11th Annual Spring Dog Festival

This is the 11th annual Spring Dog Dog Festival that C-Dog (Coastal Dog Owners Group) hosts every year. The money raised from this fun fundraiser helps C-Dog continue to donate and help promote responsible pet ownership and grant money to other non-profits that help dog located in the Santa Cruz area.

Pack Walk In The Park

What a better way to get some morning exercise than taking your dog for a walk with a bunch of other pet lovers! The Pack Walk in the Park will be taking place at TY Park. It?s only $.150 to enter the park and you and your pet can get a good hour long walk with some other dogs and owners in the morning before the rest of the day begins. TY Park requires that all dogs be on a 6 foot leash, no flex leashes or retractable, and that your dog be ok with being around other dogs and in a crowd. Arrive by 8:45am because the walk starts promptly at 9am. Bring bags to clean up after your dog in case she has to make a pit stop.

It?s a two mile walk along a newly paved walkway in the park. This promises to be a good and fun activity.
